The prime concern of this investigation was the extent of the lower settlement of the Van Fortress/Tuspa, the capital city of the Urartians, especially the mound, since all the previous excavators have suggested the presence of earlier levels beneath the Old City of Van. The 1990 campaign in particular revealed earlier Urartian levels in the Upper Citadel trenches thereby providing important data to work with. It was in this context that the capital city as a whole is considered necessary to fully understand the citadel and the lower settlement levels. Every corner of the outcrop, which is by itself, a monument was utilized by the Urartian architects. Royal rock tombs, monumental open air sanctuaries and palaces are the most prominent architectural features of the capital. Many cuneiform inscriptions either on the rock surfaces or on the stelae, further cement its position as a capital. It is possible to trace the cultural remains and chronology of the 200 years of Urartian rule from the levels of the lower settlement as it is feasible in view of the current excavations, that the second millennium culture and the transition to the Iron Ages in the region can be redefined.

This is a part-summary of the Master of Arts Thesis investigation into the antiquity of theSrîmad-Bhâgavatam also referred to as Bhâgavata-Purâna within the classic literature of India. The work uses the scientific method to evaluate competing paradigms to establish that both the Srîmad-Bhâgavatam and its concept of the four ages comes from a time previous to the Ice Age, when it is believed that man migrated from Asia to the Americas. Keywords: Textual Antiquity; Epistemology; Historicity; Post hoc ergo propter hoc.

The paper examines Covid-19 from the perspective of an imam in relation to Islamic teachings and media representation explaining that moslems and non-moslems are pre-disposed to succumb to fear and falsehood in line with pre-end-times Qur’anic prophecies that encapsulate the Islamic eschatology. In contour and thrusts, the paper is journalistic weaving interpretation of Qur’anic verses blended in a posit recursive narration of media-obsessive treatment of the Coronavirus as distinct from other historical pandemics.

The study is an exegesis of extracts translated into English from the book: Aile Polisi (Family Police) 387 pages by Nuri Ateş published, 2011, in Turkish by Hayat Yayıncılık, Istanbul, Turkey. It is an original exponent research on the Family Police Pilot Scheme Project introduced by the Erzincan Police in 2007 covering the conceptual framework of family policing; the drawbacks of traditional and classic policing in view of modern policing success criteria and equal partnership between the public and the police. The study draws a conclusion that is imperative in that although policing is seen as protecting life, public and private properties, securing the peace, but within a superseding framework of crime prevention rather than crime solving. The study relocates each resident to the centre of crime prevention and argues that only when the police is fully trusted, and it is the foremost duty of the police to work to earn the full public trust, that the community will partner the police in preventing crimes without which the success of policing will be minimal and on the fringes of society. The scheme deploys arrays of citizen and government networks to help solve citizens’ problems, ranging from poverty to health issues and care by direct assistance and liaison ensuring that the Family Police promotion of the well-being of each and every resident of the city of Erzincan is felt by all and it is its frontal arsenal in preventing crimes.

Mystical behavior has some companions. We cannot deny the place of superstitions, myths, and legends in our daily lives. Who can assert that Noah and his ark would not take the place of Gaia of 2300 years past 2500 years from now? How would those from other cultures consider the blue beads, used against the evil eye that we, in Turkey, have around our houses and offices? We can observe mystical behaviors of even scientists whom we can define as rationalist individuals. If we approach the issue from Abraham Maslow’s observation, we can say that most of those who are spiritually healthy and successful rely on mystical beliefs and behaviors. Thus, this phenomenon deliberately ignored by some scientists is scrutinized in this paper, examining the psychological and sociological depths of those elements that can be termed mystical using Güleç’s framework and a wider literature review to understand how they have become indispensable for societies.

When we look at products that use mystic elements and the marketing activities related to them, we see that mysticism has become a passion for individuals and this passion has become an opportunity for marketers. Accordingly, when we look at the process in reverse, we might as well say that this is a tendency created by marketing activities and instilled into individuals’ lives. Although, it is indisputable that the notion of mystic experiences originated in the East, it is equally true that the commodities charged with the so-called mystical qualities and meanings including services associated with these experiences have become a natural part of all of our daily lives like they have always been there in the first place. Most of these have become part of our beliefs, habits, and discourses and have entered into our present life styles in various ways. Technologies in general, an indispensable part of our lives, or even internet-based-services in particular make use of this attractiveness of mysticism. When we think about the associations of mysticism, although it might seem hard to relate the concept to technology, virtual reality an important feature availed by the internet technology provides the infrastructure for the mystic experiences in question. The most pervasive example of this is the use of internet technology to spread mystic experiences on the internet, extend it to as many users as possible, and make the products that have mystical qualities catch on. This paper is a research on Second Life, a cyberspace that is used as the basic means to make mystical elements spread on the internet. Second Life comes before us as an alternative to the real life on cyberspace and its approach and perspective is examined via a creative theory on mystic places by Chamberlain: topomystica. This focuses the paper in revealing the mystic elements of Second Life and associates these with the theories of economy politics of the internet in order to demonstrate how mystic elements have become a source of economic profit in digital platforms.

The article using qualitative research methods analyses the development of the directors’ cinema in Turkey against the background of the International Film Festivals as counterweight to Hollywood Studio Productions. The study concludes that the economic, financial advantage that may have been provided in view of international screening, sales and distribution of Turkish producer-director-cinema by the festivals, international co-producers and distributors also lead to interventions that tend to deconstruct national culture and ideology whilst not being sufficient to make the films, really financially successful. It further argues that the Independent Film Festivals network of relationships are similar to Hollywood’s and are creating structures that are determining the films’ production process. They are at the same time mounting pressures on the Turkish producer-director of the arts cinema into becoming a dependence variable that may turn the art-films to films just for economic consumption.

The influence of Islamic Art on the Western world and the world at large is undeniably exampled by, but not limited to architecture, where it was purveyed as imitated building structures in the 18th century Brighton Royal Pavilion built between 1787 and 1823 for King George IV of Britain. The two-part series discusses Islamic Art from the standpoint of Muslims in the West, and as a counter-balance to the negative associations with Islam prevalent in today’s mainstream media. The focus is on Islamic Art as one of Islam’s major contributions to human civilisation using literary compendium in which part one articles the underpinning issues contextualising Islam’s architecture within the theology of Islam. The second part is an interview between two scholars on Islam engaging in what seems like a combative discussion to address the meta-theology of Islam in Islamic identity in the West.

Throughout history, mankind has always tried to explain any event that they could not understand, cope with, or that they were scared of, by the existence of secret and unknown powers. They sometimes personified these powers and organized various rituals, rites, and ceremonies to overcome difficulties and transferred these rituals to subsequent generations by making them a part of the culture. That human societies living in disparate geographic locations have explained natural events through similar stories and heroes for centuries is an interesting phenomenon that should not be overlooked. For example, people of warmer climates have defined supernatural beings with symbols such as fire whereas people of colder climates talked about mythological beings of ice. The sacrificial ritual of offering gifts to a being described as “God” is observed in almost all cultures. In other words, the rituals through which people of different cultures and geographies have tried to please the supreme beings of their own creation are similar. In our age when science has elucidated many unknowns of nature, mystical factors and mystic philosophy still retain their importance. While science is searching for answers to many issues through research and experiments, elements of mystical culture that have been created millennia ago can still offer solutions to problems for many contemporary people. For example, relaxation through meditation is offered as a solution to psychological problems instead of modern medicine, places of worship are visited for wishes to be granted instead of working toward desired outcomes, or some contents in literary works such as the Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter try to explain the unknown. The fact that mystical factors are still heeded by mankind, despite the achievements of science and technology in today’s world, is open to exploration via the examination of mysticism’s journey through various geographies from days past. Mysticism is a good product to be marketed, due to the secrets and promises that it entails so long as the rules of ethics are not forgotten in this collaboration.

The article discusses the transformative effect of thefrustration theme through the example of the film Sonbahar. In the field of auteur cinema, where the viewer is not aconsumer but a part of the creative process, the harmony between form andcontent allows the critical, transformative and permanent meanings to emerge. In this study, Sonbahar, a film whichhas the given characteristic elements of this field, is analysed on the axis ofthe form of presentation of the frustration theme. It focuses on the thesisthat the film, owing to its aesthetic structure, contains negation, whichcomplements the form and questioning that will produce permanent meanings, thusrevealing the hope inherent in frustration.

Written by six young people from Liverpool, a 1912 account of backpacking in France was the introduction of this study to Arthur Leonard and his political approach to leisure. Celebrating peace, a year after the Morocco crisis brought Europe to the brink of war, the backpackers end their adventures with a toast to friendship, long life and happy days. Determined to speak and understand French, their friendships are already international. They had learned how to explore a new country as guests rather than tourists through the Co-operative Holidays Association, founded in 1894 by Arthur Leonard with its first head office in Rhu, on the Clyde, in 1897. From the international household of his Hackney childhood, Leonard progressed to secondary school in Heidelberg. After preparing for the Congregational ministry with Dr. John Paton of Nottingham, he arrived in Barrow in 1887. Recession had forced many out of work. Barrow celebrated Victoria’s Jubilee with soup kitchens. Industrialists and wealthy landowners had made little provision for the well being of workers. Hostility between migrant communities was rife. Contemporary reports describe a wilderness of unfinished streets, unlicensed alcohol and obscene graffiti. Drainage and water supplies were poor. The Registrar General identified “a startling level of zygotic disease.” Leonard’s unorthodox approach to ministry included rambles on the Furness fells for young people, and one of the first academics whose support he enlisted was Dr Alex Hill, Master of Downing and a pioneer of environmental medicine. Leonard’s political and religious difficulties in Barrow prompted a move to the notoriously radical town of Colne. Accusations of Socialism continued. Linking the hill walking, music and ventures such as open-air services for cyclists to the National Home Reading Union, it was Leonard’s mentor, Dr Paton who recognised the national and indeed international potential of Leonard’s initiative. Challenging barriers of class, gender, faith and nationality, the Co-operative Holidays Association was intensely and deliberately educational, recruiting leading academics and other key professionals as lecturers and field guides. In 1906, centres opened in Germany and France. School exchange pupils in Britain and Germany stayed with host families and at outdoor centres. As international tension mounted, reciprocal visits developed into a formal peace movement. Studying photos in the 1912 account, it was reasonable to see that the young man whose walking clothes and footwear had been identified as German could be a friend met through these links with Germany. A mistake, but it led to the efforts of Arthur Leonard and countless others to prevent the ‘Great War’ by bringing young people together.

The study evaluates the meaning of mysticism and its connection to the conscious mind, the unconscious mind, and the subconscious as well as the use of archetypes in advertising to influence people by impacting their subconscious mind. More specifically, the article investigates the myths, mysticism, symbols, codes, metaphors, and hidden persuaders that are used in advertising raising the possibility that there could be an unethical aspect to advertising since consumers and customers may be unaware of its manipulative use of archetypes, codes, hidden writings and hypnotic sound effect. The main reason for the use of such methods and techniques in advertisements is to create a strong will to buy the product advertised without any explicit reasons for doing so. The spate of research on how these hypnotic messages have become a means that is of great use in a wide range of disciplines such as political communication, marketing, promotion and advertising has made it necessary for this article to address the ways subliminal advertising techniques are explored in real advertisements.

The study evaluates superstitions and faiths that have maintained their contemporariness and occupy a significant place in people’s lives from the different perspectives of believers and non-believers; exploring their reasons for remaining contemporary as well as the fields in which they are readily observed. The article addresses the concepts of superstitious faiths and behaviors, and their conceptual boundaries; the current and naive connection between superstitions, marketing and advertising, to fill a gap in the current discourse. The study does not make normative value judgments on what is superstitious; instead, it is concerned with why we need them, and how they are internalized as well as their proliferation. The goal is to probe how this sustainability and positioning as well as the need for their spiritual auras have been maintained across generations.

This article traces the development of the education service in the 1970s and deals with the influence of local government reorganisation, particularly in the West Riding of Yorkshire and the move to the right in both the Conservative and Labour parties at least, in part, caused by difficult economic conditions. The outcome was that the climate for the development of schools was very different at the end of the decade than it had been at the beginning. Local authorities were organised differently and professional concerns and pressures became very different. There was also an increase in the influence of parents in the state system. Keywords: local government reorganisation; raising of the school leaving age; local government governance

The impacts of postmodernism have been observed on individuals as well as society and several fields of social construct. Besides influencing and transforming individuals, postmodernism is reflected in their identities. Postmodern individuals focus on experiential consumption rather than concrete one and enriching their daily lives with mystical experiences. They consider the New Age Trend as a leading tool. This study examines the postmodern consumer’s relations with mystic experiences. Elizabeth Gilbert, who is a main character in the movie: Eat, Pray, Love was chosen as a case study. This movie was examined using descriptive analysis on postmodernism, individualization, mysticism and New Age trend.

Change in the Education System in England and Wales in the last 70 years (Part 1: 1944 – 1949) examines in detail the development of the national education system and its effects on regional localities from the 1944 Education Act to the present time. The paper’s approach is both through an analysis of processes that have fuelled the changes in that time as well as demonstrating experientially that although the 1944 Education Act was an evolutionary attempt to create a new educational situation in post-war Britain it succeeded as the enabling legislation for the development of the national system of education in England and Wales after the Second World War. Concluding that subsequent developments have been in accord with the Act or have been enabled by the add-on legislation of succeeding governments because the educational themes, which developed later, have their origin in the intentions; the spirit, the mandatory or permissive mix of the 1944 Act; and in reactions to it.

Anahtar Kelimeler: Büyük veri, Endüstri 4.0, Netflix, tavsiye algoritmaları.ABSTRACTBig data is one of the most important phenomena of the twenty-first century. The emergence of big data transforms every aspect of life, from education to politics, from health to marketing. The speed, variety and volume of data is increasing with the Industry 4.0 revolution. The transition from a “human-centered” world to a “data-centered” world raises the issue of how to manage huge amounts of data and affects the decision-making processes of enterprises. Brands that analyze big data with the right methods become the leader in their sector. Netflix is one of the most striking examples of this reality. Netflix that started its commercial life as a DVD marketing company in 1997 has brought film-watching experience of its customers to the internet since 2007. Netflix has quickly become one of the world's leading visual content distributors and filmmakers by using big data efficiently. It deleted Blockbuster the giant of DVD rental and sales market from the market and became HBO and Disney’s strongest rival. Netflix, which transforms not only the identity of the viewers but also their emotions and experiences into data, develops effective recommendation algorithms by overcoming the prejudice of quantization. In this way, it raises customer satisfaction to the highest level by offering attractive film proposals to its members.Netflix takes the pulse of viewers with its digitalization-compatible business model, programmatic marketing strategy and personalized content. The aim of this study is to show that only companies that can analyze big data with insightful can survive through Netflix case study. Keywords: Big data, Industry 4.0, Netflix, recommendation algorithms.

The article addresses the weighty issue of sexism in the Vedic culture. It uses both the Bhagavad Gita and the Manu Samhita as the basis for the exegesis of Arjuna on the social arguments and the definition of qualities for women and men in view of the pivotal role of the family to transcendence and the individual’s spiritual, moral and ethical obligations.

This paper is the fifth in a series and is concerned with the substantial progress made by comprehensive education between 1962 and 1983 to become the dominant mode of secondary education in England and Wales. Some parts of the national system were, however, resistant to the general change. The small township of Skipton, an example of one such locality was part of two LEAs, the West Riding County Council and (post 1974) North Yorkshire County Council. Negotiations under their governance produced numerous plans in attempts to reach agreement on an acceptable form for comprehensive reorganisation. All these attempts foundered and Skipton retained its grammar schools. Explanations for this outcome are the principal topic for enquiry in this article. Keywords: Secondary Education Reorganisation; Three-Tier Scheme; Direct Grant Schools; Selection at eleven.

Astrology has been defined in various ways throughout history, starting with the definition of knowledge that appears in Plato’s Theaetetus dialogue in which knowledge is considered to be a “justified true belief”. If knowledge can only emerge when all three conditions of belief, justification, and truth are met simultaneously then astrology can only be more belief than knowledge, or opinion or presumption. In that case, we can define astrology as “belief in the falsehood”. The reason for the popularity of astrology does not seem to originate from science and knowledge, which makes it false in Plato’s opinion. The person who chooses to believe in astrology, which somehow claims to explain the unknown, does so because astrology represents a product that offers security and hope for such person. This quality has meaning for the consumer society of the 21st century: astrology is a product of desire that markets the experience of the future. The unknown has always been interesting, for both ancient and contemporary societies. One can say that making the unknown known is equivalent to the individual of our age reassuring and motivating self in the pursuit of life. While the statement highlights astrology as an element of marketing, it does not seem possible to talk about a general definition of astrology, which is widely accepted. It is probably not easy to seek an answer to the question what is astrology within numerous intertwined relationships of astrology with, for example, religion, science, astronomy, or psychology. Our compass in navigating through this labyrinth would be the history of astrology.

Change in the Education System in England and Wales Part 2:The Developing Pattern - 1950s and 1960s focuses on issues of decentralisation of systems and levels of provision arising around, from, and subsequent to the 1944 Education Act. The crystallisation of issues surrounding Political and Professional Attitudes; the Eleven Plus; Secondary Modern Schools (with a concentration on the West Riding County Council) and the Persistence of Inequality of Opportunity are described and assessed. This is a reflective evaluation of the 1950s and 1960s based on an understanding of the difficulties experienced by both professionals and politicians involved in fashioning the reorganisation of secondary education. The context is the basis for the thrust of the article’s argument that what was being negotiated was the relationship between central and local government and between local government and localities.

According to Gilles Deleuze, time-image is a critical image that proceeds with pure visual and auditory situations, creates its own time, does not contain metaphors, and communicate directly with thought and time. The crystal image generated by the time-image allows the perception of virtual powers. Irrational cuts interfere with the indirect presentation of time as a kind of aberration of movement and reverse the relationship of subordination that continues with movement. Due to the exchange of the virtual and actual, the randomness of events is affirmed. Unfinished, multi-faceted and always in dialogue with the subject; it breaks the routine, allows us to rarefy the image by removing everything that we added to the image in our minds, and activates the powers of intuition. The time-image does not have to be close-up, but it can be said that the close-up has an organic connection with the time-image due to it being a frame that has been formally broken away from the context, due to its flat appearance that negates depth and perspective due to its tendency to become abstract. This article aims to elaborate this connection between time-image and close-up and to describe the qualities of close-up as a time-image, via the film Sivas (Kaan Müjdeci, 2014). In this axis, based on the characteristics of time-image, seven basic categories were created under the titles of subjectivity, deterritorialization, virtuality, intuitiveness, randomness, irrationality and becoming. The film was analyzed thematically in the context of these categories. Hereby, It can be seen that the close-ups accompanying the shaky motion of the camera on the shoulder in this film remind us of two points of view on and off the character; with the random determination of the images, the viewers are invited to the time of the incomplete. It has been determined that the variability of the frame during the movement makes the ongoing state of becoming perceivable, and the unconnectedness of the relationship between the whole and the part reveals the state of deterritorialization and virtuality. The subjective, deterritorialized, virtual, intuitive, random and irrational close-ups of the film create areas in which the concepts of masculinity, self-realization, competence and power are questioned and discussed, and reveal a transformative time-image cinema in which permanent meanings are produced. The paper postulates that the art of literature is important in the history of civilization because of its relationships with the sciences, which have enhanced the role of literature in the enlightenment process, making it a hard to underestimate means of consumption that nurtures, develops, and enriches the internal worlds of people. It is for that reason that a close relationship and a parallel dialogue between its main constituents can be observed from a perspective of interdisciplinary relations, between literature and marketing including the concept of consumption and attitudes. Consumption habits, consumption rituals and mystical elements are among the tools that encourage consumption and affect the consumer as well as the arguments that form and define these elements. Based on relevant observations, it would not be wrong to make the claim that even literature is encircled by marketing.

This study re-evaluated available evidence of the historicity of Lord Krishna from the History of Hindu Culture and Cosmo-vision through literary and comparative analysis methods involving textual, archaeological, and technological proofs of recent decades. The work is significant in that it pieces together convincing evidential-based positions that make it unnecessary to over argue against or for Lord Krishna as a real historical personage thereby advancing a new position of a given beyond any debate because of the volumes of interdisciplinary evidence now available and which have become a game changer for those western and modernistic Hindus Indologists who had tried to cast the reality of Lord Krishna as a popular deity. Western scholars and even some Eastern scholars previously influenced by Oriental outdated myth postulation of the West have had to accept that their attempt was erroneous and flew in the face of factual, tangible and spiritual realities. It is on this basis that the paper seeks to deconstruct Benjamin Preciado Solis approach in his work titled: The First Historical Evidences of Krishna.

Any newspaper's graphic design is of great importance in attracting the attention of the reader and facilitating easy reading. It is important for the layout in an online newspaper graphic design not only to have integrity but also to be easy-to-use. For an online newspaper to be user-friendly is only possible if the reader can find and read what s/he looks for easily and comfortably. Typography is in this respect, the most important element in the online newspaper's graphic design as it is the art of situating typefaces on a two-dimensional surface. Typography thus ensures that writing pushes the limits of logic, keeps attention alive, caresses human spirit, infuriates, and excites. Therefore, the typography of an online newspaper should be “simple, effective and deep”. The typography uses on the websites of some national newspapers in Turkey are examined in the research through comparative analysis emphasizing the importance of typography in online (cyber) journalism.
